Principal's Bio

Dear RCES Family,

It is with honor and great pleasure that I introduce myself to you. I am so excited and humbled to have the privilege to work alongside the students and teachers of RCES. My goal this year is to support each of you as we become a beacon of academic excellence in our school division and for our state. This will only happen if we commit to hard work, dedication, and partnerships between school staff, parents, and most important the students.

I am most appreciative of the opportunity presented to me to become a member of this educational family. I have been privileged to have spent 16 wonderful years as an educator working with students at the elementary and high school levels. I have had the opportunity to teach music in grades pre-K to 6th, nutrition and wellness to students in 9th – 12th grades all in Culpeper County. Most recently I collaborated with the families in Wythe County as the assistant principal at Spiller Elementary.

Although I have had many successes in my career as an educator, my greatest are of a personal nature. First I have been blessed to have married the most beautiful lady – my soulmate of 20 years Dorina, a teacher in Culpeper County. I also have the honor of being the father to three wonderful sons, each with their own unique personalities and talents. Philip a senior, and twins Aaron and Alex who are freshmen at Culpeper County High School.

I am a family man and hope to bring that sense of togetherness to the Rappahannock County Elementary School families and staff. As part of the leadership team of RCES, I commit to you my support and dedication to each member of the RCES family. My goal this year is to foster a community of positivity, support, and trust. It is only through teamwork and collaboration that we can move to a higher level of success. I believe that the bringing together of our individual strengths and abilities while seeing the best in each other, will develop an atmosphere that will allow for great things. Our talents, you support as parents, and your dedication and hard work as students will make this year the best ever.

Our theme this year is “Commitment precedes achievement”! Let’s commit to helping each other become the best that we can be. I look forward to serving with you this school year. If I can assist you in anyway please do not hesitate to contact me.

Respectfully Yours,

Ben Temple
